What is MAICon?

MAICon, or ‘Miniature AICon’, is a one day mini festival run in Launceston. It is a condensed version of AICon featuring some of our most popular events such as the Cosplay Competition and Fruits Fashion, as well as some brand new exclusives! Much like AICon events and activities include competitions, a trader’s hall, the ever popular auction, the art room and a miniaturised games room among other things! As always, cosplay is a popular activity (though obviously not required). The theme for MAICon this year is ‘Mecha‘!

Do I have to dress in theme?

No, the theme is just a fun little add-on and it is not a requirement for entry in any of our competitions – however, if you’re interested in our theme specific categories in competitions such as cosplay, you must be dressed in theme to enter those categories. Otherwise, it’s free for all!

Will food and drink be available?

Yes, both food and drink will be available at MAICon. There will be a general canteen in the traders hall and the MAICon Maid Café in the Sir Raymond Ferrall Centre! More details of exactly what will be available will be released closer to the convention date.

How can I apply to be a volunteer?

Volunteer Sign-ups will be up soon! Keep an eye on our FB page for alerts when it goes live!

I want to enter Cosplay/Fruits/other competition, how do I do this?

Pre-registration for our MAICon events is not yet open.
Please be sure to fully read and understand the rules/terms and conditions for each event before entering.

How can I apply to be a sponsor or trader at MAICon?

If you’re interested in sponsoring MAICon or trading at the event, please follow the directions in the MAICon 2017 Sponsors and Vendors

Is there public transport to MAICon?

Yes there is! Metro runs a service from Stop E in St John Street that runs every two hours through the UTAS Newnham Campus every on Saturdays. For more information please go to:
