What is MAICon?

MAICon, or ‘Miniature AICon’, is a one day mini festival run in Launceston. It is a condensed version of AICon featuring some of our most popular events such as the Cosplay Competition and Fruits Fashion, as well as some brand new exclusives! Much like AICon events and activities include competitions, a trader’s hall, the ever popular auction, the art room and a miniaturised games room among other things! As always, cosplay is a popular activity (though obviously not required). The theme for MAICon this year is ‘Villain‘!

Do I have to dress in theme?

No, the theme is just a fun little add-on and it is not a requirement for entry in any of our competitions – however, if you’re interested in our theme specific categories in competitions such as cosplay, you must be dressed in theme to enter those categories. Otherwise, it’s free for all!

Will food and drink be available?

Yes, both food and drink will be available at MAICon. There will be a general canteen in the traders hall! More details of exactly what will be available will be released closer to the festival date.

How can I apply to be a volunteer?

Check the drop down menu under ‘MAICon’ for the volunteers tab and all the information for it!

I want to enter Cosplay/Fruits/other competition, how do I do this?

Pre-registration for our MAICon events will be announced on our social media and website. Check the main events and competition page under the ‘MAICon’ drop-down bar for more info.
Please be sure to fully read and understand the rules/terms and conditions for each event before entering.

How can I apply to be a sponsor or trader at MAICon?

If you’re interested in sponsoring MAICon or trading at the event, please follow the directions in the MAICon 2018 Sponsors and Vendors

Is there public transport to MAICon?

Yes there is! Metro runs a service from Stop E in St John Street that runs every two hours through the UTAS Newnham Campus every Saturday. For more information please go to: http://www.metrotas.com.au/timetables/launceston/north-university-alanvale/
