AICon 2014 was our biggest convention yet with 1800 attendees! We hope you enjoyed our new home, Wrest Point, and we are looking to be there for AICon again in the future.

We’d also like to announce that the winner of the Raffle was Ebony Nichols.

 

Committee Elections

Our AGM will be on Saturday the 15th of March at Fitzroy Gardens in Sandy Bay.
We will be electing a new Executive as well as discussing potential changes within DigiVisiPop (The TUU Society that runs AICon).
Positions up for election on Saturday are:
President/Convenor (needs to have at least a year of experience on the AICon Committee)
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Nominations for these positions will be taken until 6pm Friday the 14th of March.

The election of Applications for Coordinator roles, Officers and Auxiliary will close on the 20th of March 2014, with details of the first committee meeting TBA.

Artists will need to submit a piece of work of AICon’s mascots, AIko and Ichiro with their application and Photographers will be required to submit a folio of their work.

 

Executive (must be Southern-based)

President/Convenor
To oversee the organisation of AICon and MAICon and ensure the progress of DigiVisiPop is positive.
Will be required to attend Exec, Exec and Coord and Whole Committee meetings.

Vice President
To stand in for the President if they are unable to attend meetings or functions. Will be required to attend Exec, Exec and Coord and Whole Committee meetings.

Secretary
Keeps minutes of all meetings and collects correspondence (both electronically and mail) for the society of DigiVisiPop. Will be required to attend Exec, Exec and Coord and Whole Committee meetings.

Treasurer
Keeps clear financial records and drafts budgets. Will be required to attend Exec, Exec and Coord and Whole Committee meetings.

 

Co-ordinators

Advertising Coordinator
Collaborates with the Art, Publicity, Social Media Coords and Treasurer to create advertising campaigns to further AICon’s presence in Tasmania and interstate. You will be required to attend Exec and Coord meetings which run fortnightly and Whole Committee meetings which are every 6 weeks.

Art Coordinator
You need to know how to deal with people, ensure deadlines are set and met and that the art that is being produced is up to a high standard. You will be required to hold working bees will be held once a month and would be required to attend whole committee meetings held every 6 weeks

Cultural Demonstration Coordinator
To contact relevant cultural, sporting and community groups to come and perform or demonstrate at AICon and MAICon. You will be required to attend Exec and Coord meetings which run fortnightly and Whole Committee meetings which are every 6 weeks.

Design Coordinator
To work with the Art Coordinator to design our posters, program books and printed material. Must be proficient in working with InDesign or other editing programs and have the ability to work to deadlines. You will be required to attend Exec and Coord meetings which run fortnightly and Whole Committee meetings which are every 6 weeks.

Event Coordinator
Works with Event Officers to ensure events for MAICon and AIcon are prepared and up to a high standard that will be entertaining for our attendees. Will also work with the Logistics Coordinator, Panels Coordinator, Games Room Coordinator, Cultural Demonstration Coordinator and Design Coordinator to create the timetables for MAICon and AICon.
Event meetings would need to be held once a month during planning and once a fortnight 2 months out from each convention.

Fundraising Coordinator
To work with the Events Coordinator to run fun and profitable events for fundraising. You will be required to attend Exec and Coord meetings fortnightly and Whole committee meetings every 6 weeks.

Games Room Coordinator
To draft and execute a plan for our Games Room that includes sourcing and running TCG, Consoles and Computer gaming. You will be required to attend Exec and Coord meetings fortnightly and Whole committee meetings every 6 weeks.

Human Resources Coordinator
To ensure that the committee works together harmoniously. Must be a people person and have the ability to care for a whale hand puppet. You will be required to attend Exec and Coord meetings fortnightly and Whole committee meetings every 6 weeks.

Merchandise Coordinator
To work with Art and Design Coordinators and Treasury to procure new AICon merch that is of a high quality and affordable for attendees. You will be required to attend Exec and Coord meetings fortnightly and Whole committee meetings every 6 weeks.

Publicity and Media Coordinator
To work with Advertising and Social Media as well as media partners to further promote AICon in the community. You will be required to attend Exec and Coord meetings fortnightly and Whole committee meetings every 6 weeks.

Sponsor and Trader Coordinator
You’ll need to approach our existing partners and potential new businesses about considering trading and sponsoring at AICon and MAICon. The ability to be clear and succinct through written correspondence are essential and you will be required to attend Exec and Coord meetings fortnightly and Whole committee meetings every 6 weeks.

 

Registration

Pre registration
To ensure that we have a clear and fast online pre registration system for AICon 2015.
Must be good with customer service as well as being clear and succinct through written correspondence are essential and you will be required to attend Exec and Coord meetings fortnightly and Whole committee meetings every 6 weeks.

On the day
To organise and run the day registration of AICon 2015 ensuring that it is quick and efficient. Must be able to attend whole committee meetings held every 6 weeks.

 

MAICon/ Northern-based roles

Northern Events Coordinator
Coordinating with the Executive, Northern Events Coordinator would be in charge of running social and fundraising events in Launceston and its surrounds. Whilst attendance at meetings is not compulsory, online presence and the ability to be clear and succinct through written correspondence are essential.

Maid Cafe Coordinator
To organise volunteers (separate to the volunteers running with the convention and maximum of 20) to run the Maid Cafe for 2 hours of lunch. Ensure they’re trained in food handling procedures and customer service. You will need to attend Exec and Coordinator meetings and whole committee meetings until September.

Registration
To organise and run the day registration of MAICon 2014 ensuring that it is quick and efficient. Must be able to attend whole committee meetings held every 6 weeks.

 

Teams

Event Officers
Event Officers from 13/14 have first choice on the event they ran at the previous convention(s)
Events commonly ran at both MAICon and AICon shall be organised by the same coordinator to avoid confusion and problems.
Event Officers would be required to attend monthly Event meetings and Whole committee meetings held every 6 weeks.

Art Officers
Art Officers are required to produce pieces of work for AICon, MAICon, website, merchandise and social media under direction of the Art Coordinator. Art working bees will be held once a month and would be required to attend whole committee meetings held every 6 weeks

Research Officers
Research Officers help the coordinators and executive with in depth research. Research Officers are not required to attend meetings, but will be required to be active on the AICon forums.

Advertising Officers
Advertising Officers will be required to help the Advertising Coordinator with poster distribution across the state. You will not be required at meetings, but will need to be active on the forums.

Photographers and Film Makers
We require both footage and stills for promotion of our events and also to capture some of the great moments and cosplays we see at our events. You would be required at whole committee meetings and to also supply images/edited footage with relatively short turn around time.

Social Media
Working with advertising and publicity you will be ensuring that all of our social media platforms such as Facebook, Tumblr and Instagram are updated regularly with correct information. Whilst attendance at meetings is not compulsory, online presence and the ability to be clear and succinct through written correspondence are essential.
